I like how they left the viewers guessing on the nature of their relationship. Viewers will see what they want to see. I believed more in the idea of them being soul mates throughout all time. To call them "lesbian" might apply in their current life as Xena and Gabrielle. But in their other lives that would not be applicable. For example, the espisode while they were in the East and they experienced time travel for the first time. They jumped into their future souls where Gabrielle was a young male warrior and Xena was an old peace-maker woman. They were together but not in a sexual manner.
Yes, I have to agree with you on at one, mainly because it was one of my favorites, soul possesion and de ju vu all over again both made me a little cynical, but were cute... However with the later episodes I like the less substantial episode because the were more a way of bringing into context the intimacy / 'lesbian' innuendo between Xena and Gabrielle and gave the viewer the ability to make a stronger assumption as to whether or not they really where... with that topic I think they're both just pansexuals, I'm a little cynical about calling them lesbians....
I agree with you Hermes. I think they were running out of steam toward the end of the series. I did like all the time travel episodes, especially the one where Xena and Gabrielle were cloned and brought back by Alti. That epsiode was very funny.
.... Oh also the fire it's self I mean a fire breaking out and killing 40,000 people during the night that they all woke up to beat up some women got them selves all worked up and then what must've decided to go to bed while a fire was burning down a building. I mean also it was snowing, I'm not an expert but seriously all these factors and still 40,000 dead. It's all a bit odd, I don't think it's built on a strange planning... I have to admit I wasn't really a fan of series of series 6 part 2, a lot of the episodes seen to be mainly time consumer episodes toward the final.... Also hated the new amazons, they were just tacky, I preferred the pre- 25 year period Amazons then them I also think think they could have brought back Velaska in the future when they woke up just to make things interesting..... Oops didn't mean to rant.
I found the ending cute and meaningful what with Gabrielle being 'haunted' by the ghost of Xena, that made it up for me. The fight scenes, meh, but the make up on that guy, terrible and the weird special effects he had like the weird Tasmanian devil thing and all the dramatic face entrances turned me off. Also was a little annoyed, when that final fight happened it was epic, for two ghost all those special powers where considerable. In retrospect it bugs at me that the gods where less big on the special effects.
