"Everyone is staring at me." I said as I stepped out of Alice's Yellow porsche, "Couldn't you have let Edward take me in the Volvo?"
"No." Said Alice, "Edward and Bella are supposed to be in the Carribean."
" I hate you." I said as I slammed the door,
"Love you too, have a great day." She replied through the open window. As I walked up to the main reception I could see every eye turn on me, and I could hear the whispers too,
"Is that the new Cullen girl?"
"What year's she going into?"
"Where did she come from?"
I tried to block thenm out but my too sensitive ears could pick up every hushed word. I hurried to reception and told the woman behind the desk,
"I'm Anna Cullen. It's my first day."
"Oh yes," she replied at once, "I've got a map here, and this is your timetable." I glanced down at it. I had English first thing.
"thank you," I said and started to make my way to English. I hadn't been walking long, when a tiny girl bounced up to me,
"Hi!" she said, beaming at me, "I'm Ashley. My sister Jessica was friends with Bella."
"Oh, great." I said, attempting to be interested,
"What've you got first?" she asked, peering over my shoulder at the timetable still clutched in my hand,
"English." I replied, and she squealed with delight, "Me too!"
We were doing Shakespeare in English, Romeo and Juliet,
"Now we normally do this in Junior year, but I think you guys are ready for it now. " Our English teacher, Miss Ellis said. "As a little introduction, we're going to watch West Side Story." As Ashley next to me squealed excitedly again, I gave a miniscule sigh. I'd never been a huge fan of West Side Story. The main characters irritated me.
"First, who can tell me the differences between "Romeo and Juliet" and "West Side Story"?" Several hands shot into the air, and the obvious answers all came up,
"In Romeo and Juliet they both die, instead of just one."
"Romeo and Juliet isn't set in America."
"In Romeo and Juliet Romeo kills himself instead of being killed"
Miss Ellis smiled, "Yes, well done everyone. You've done brilliantly." There was still so many differences screaming at me, and I couldn't help raiing my hand,
"Yes Anna?"
"In Romeo and Juliet, Tybalt is Juliet's cousin, but in West Side Story Bernardo is Maria's brother. Also, in Romeo and Juliet, Romeo kills Paris, but in West Side Story Chino kills Tony."
"Well done Anna. I think we have a fan of Shakespeare in." I smiled weakly, and we settled down to watch the film, but I wasn't paying attention.

Lunch was even worse than English. I was lead to a table by Ashley, who introduced me to the people sitting there. Liz was a shy seeming girl with long, dark hair, but who seemed nice. Simon had cropped hair and seemed to have trouble speaking, he opened his mouth but no sound came out, instead he merely nodded greeting. Ashley winked at me. The last person at the table was Ella, she had glossy blonde ringlets and huge blue eyes that were staring menacingly at me. When introduced ashe merely nodded at me and returned to her salad. Ashley rolled her eys and began talking animatedly about how much she loved West Side Story. I sort of zoned out until Liz asked,
"What do you think Anna?"
"It's alright, I guess." I replied, poking my portion of salad with my fork.
"Aren't you gonna eat that?" Asked Ella, somehow, she seemed annoyed at me because of it.
"Not really hungry, first day nerves and all that!" I smiled at her in what I hoped was a friendly, unoffensive way, but she just put down her own fork and pushed her plate away.

Bella had warned me that Gym was compulsary here, so after lunch I was fully prepared with a note from Carlise saying that I had a long term issue with my knees and that sort of excercise was not beneficial to my recovery, so I sat in the hall and read until the rest of the class were done. Ashley came over a couple of times, as she was in my class, only to be shooed away by the teacher. Next we had French, and I was surprised to find I could actually do it. I'd never been very good at French, it wasn't really my thing, but suddenly I got it. My new, more spacious brain was able to remember all the different forms of verbs with ease, without precious space being wasted by trivial things like keeping my heart beating and processing food. None of the lunch table group were in my French class, so I was sitting with a tiny boy whom I'd noticed earlier at lunch, at a table on his own. He'd murmered sheepishly,
"I'm Jack" at the beginning of the lesson but had remained silent for the remaining hour. I didn't really mind, I wasn't a big fan of constant chatter. When the last bell went I headed back to my locker and to my surprise found Ashley, Liz, Simon and Ella waiting for me, Ella somewhat reluctantly it seemed.
"French OK?" Ashley asked
"Alright." I replied, "Bit boring."
" I know what you mean!" gushed Ashley, "And I'm terrible at it anyway, I never know what to do with the accents..." She continued in this vein until we reached the parking lot, although no one was really listening. Everyone else, it seemed, was slipping me side glances. Ella was giving me daggars every few paces, SImon was glancing over and blushing profusely, and I couldn't quite work out Liz, she glanced over a couple of times, and just smiled at me. I returned it and then Ashley let out a squeal,
"JESS!" I looked over and saw that two older girls were standing in the lot, one of which Ashley was now hugging. "I can't believe you're down for the weekend! Why didn't you tell me?"
"I wanted it to be a surprise!' Said Jessica, and the girl next to her let out a laugh,
"I think it's the only time she's ever kept a secret for more than a day!"
Everyone laughed, "Hey Lauren." said Ashley,
"Hey." She said, "Are you gonna introduce us to your friends or what?"
"Oh, sorry, this is Liz, Ella, Simon and Anna." Lauren and Jessica gave tiny waves and we returned them, "Anna's new, today is just her first day. She's Dr and Mrs Cullen's new kid." All of a sudden Jessica was all smiles and asking about how everyone was, and Lauren had fallen silent. We were interrupted by the huge roar of an engine as a black motorcycle pulled up, and I beamed when I saw who was riding it.
"Need a lift?" Asked Seth, his eyes glinting. As I rushed to him I heard Jessica whisper, "Deja Vu or what?" and practically heard the pop as the girls' mouths drop open.
"Miss me?" He asked,
"Nah." I said, and then he was kssing me in full view of everyone, but I didn't mind. "Maybe just a little." I admitted as he lifted me onto the back of the bike. I waved goodbye to my stunned friends and shouted that I'd see then on Monday as we sped off, but not in the direction I'd anticipated.
"Where are we going?" I asked, his face hardened,
"Somewhere very dangerous, with a high risk of one or both of us meeting an untimely end. I'm taking you to meet my Mom."

"I think I'm hyperventilating. Is that possible?" I asked as the bike came to a stop in the drive of the Swan/Clearwater residence. Seth took my hand and lead me up to the door,
"Just take comfort from the fact that she can't actually kill you. Besides, I've half prepared her for it."
"How?" The thought of being able to prepare someone for matting their son's undead girlfriend was a strage one.
"I told her you probably wouldn't be her first choice."
"OK, if I were your Mom, from that I would assume I had tatoos and a belly button piercing!" He grimaced,
"Yeah, but at least she's not expecting wonder woman." I held my breath as he opened the door,
"Mom? Charlie? Leah?"
"Hey, dead man." Came a voice from the couch, "She's in the kitchen, and if I were you I'd remind her you are her only son before you introduce her to the leech." She nodded in my direction.
"Ignore her." Seth whispered in my ear as he lead me through to the kitchen. Sue was busy at the stove and Charlie was reclining in a kitchen chair, reading the daily paper. Sports section.
"I hope you two are hungry." Said Sue, as she bustled around the kitchen, "I've made enough fo the whole of For..." She turned to face us and dropped the bowl she was carrying. Chopped tomatoes spilled all over the floor.
"No."
"Sue, honey..." Charlie had got up now.
"No. Get out."
"Mom," Seth was protesting, "Mom you are so over-reacting!"
"Over reacting? She's a..." she looked at Charlie, "She's one of them."
"I don't care about that so neither should you!" Seth was shouting now too.
"I shouldn't care? What mother wouldn't care if her son was.. with.."
In the midst of all the commotion felt two little pops,
"Crap." I said, "Crap. Seth, my contacts." I covered my eyes with my hands but Seth pulled them down. Sue gasped and Charlie did a double take, before shaking his head a little.
"I don't want her in this house. I don't want a killer in here."
"I'm not a killer." I said, quietly.
"What?" Sue rounded on me.
"I'm not a killer. I'm a newborn." Sue was shaking her head now, too.
"You say that like it's better. You're saying you love him, so why would you put him in danger like that? Don't you ever think about that? Loss of control for one second and my son is dead because of YOU!" Charlie was sitting at the table now, his head in his hands. Leah was standing in the doorway, seemingly unsure what to do.
"Please." I said to Sue, "Please think about this from my perspective."
"Your.." She started,
"Yes, mine. I was barely sixteen years old, when I was attacked and left to die in an unknown forest. I've had everything taken from me. I'm never going to see my family again. I'll have to live to see everyone I knew or cared about die. At sixteen. Then I found one thing, one thing that could make me happy after all this. Are you ging to take that away from me, too?"
The silence echoed off the walls, and Sue looked dumbfounded, Charlie sympathetic, Leah... impressed. For a second Sue looked at me, and I could see the battle raging inside her. Then,
"Do you want to sit down? I'll get these tomatoes cleaned up."

"Well, all things considered I think that went pretty well." said Seth as we got back on the bike so he could take me home.
"Yeah I guess." I smiled weakly, and pulled myself together. A sudden wave of guilt had come over me. What was I doing meeting his family? I was in way too deep now, and I knew there was no way out for either of us. The only thing that consoled me was the thought that even though I would hurt him, he would move on. Imprint. The only person I was hurting long term was me. I had to remember that, so I could be happy for a few short weeks before I destroyed it. We were silent as he sped through the sea of ferns to the Cullen house. I hadn't realised how late it was, and all was quiet. The only sound the thundering of the bike's engine which was suddenly gone.
"Here we are." Seth lifted me down from the seat, and just stood for a moment looking at me. "I've got to run tonight. I can get out of it if you.."
"No. Go, don't worry about me. Besides, Jake'll kill me if you don't."
"See you tomorrow." He kissed my forhead and ran into the night.
