You can't compare ANYTHING to the Simpsons. That being said Family Guy is an awesome show as well as having all the Simpsons seasons that are out I also have most of Family Guy. As a matter of fact my roomate never really watched the Simpsons....until he moved in with me and he loves Family Guy. He and I had this conversation like yesterday actually and even he admits the Family Guy pretty much took the format from the Simpsons...and if you really wanna get technical the Flinstones is the Grandaddy of them all......

Definitely the Simpsons. Family guy is kind of a rip off of south park, where it crudely attacks all of society's flaws and current events. The Simpsons has displayed time and time again it can create a hillarious sit-com without the miscellaineous comments and as someone else already mentioned fart jokes.

I'm going with the Simpsons because I've been watching it since I was in 1st grade, where as I didn't watch the Family Guy until I was a freshman in high school and didn't get into until college, and I think it's smarter. However, Family Guy is more slap stick stupid moves, but the social commentary is coming on, and the cultural references are in the Family Guy.

look at the member of the family... its the same format...
