Absolutely. First off, you have to give Simpsons credit for pioneering the genre of the animated prime time sit-com. In a significant sense, Family Guy, King of the Hill, etc. are all following the Simpsons' lead.

Besides, at its best Simpsons is rich with intelligent, subtle humor rising out of and informing well developed plot lines and multi-faceted characters. Family Guy consists largely of one-dimensional characters making random, disconnected dick and fart jokes.

Family Guy is also more of a no holds barred type of humor. The Simpsons on the other hand are more family-show oriented so the cursing and dick and fart jokes are kept to a minimum. This makes it a lot hard for the writers as they have more restrictions on their work. Still, Family Guy is a funny show despite the disconnected jokes.

Simpsons are the top then King of the Hill way down there is Family guy.
South Park even kicks the Family Guy. Family Guy does beat American Dad though.

MAJORITY RULES!!! Plus, what I say goes. SIMPSONS OWN FAMILY GUY! I've seen every episode since my first one in 1995 when I was 5. I was rolling on the floor laughing. I have a whole wall in my room dedicated to The Simpsons. Mostly stuff from 1990. I grew up around them and my kids will too. I agree that Family Guy tries too hard and there ARE wayyy too many flashbacks. Simpsons have history, family guy doesn't, simpsons have a movie, family guy doesn't, simpsons have wayy more characters, family guy doesn't. Let's face the facts here, SIMPSONS RULE.
