How often have you seen something in the "real world" that either references Trek or just happens to have the same name as something from the Trek universe? For example, some people name their children after Trek characters (British comedian Bill Bailey named his son Dax).

* There is a security company called Loomis (Loomis was the guy in ENT: "Carpenter Street")

* I saw something about Section 31 written on the wall of a bridge in London earlier yesterday, although it was nothing to do with a secret society!

Any others people have seen?

Well, I've always wanted to visit what is probably one of the more famous Trek references in real life: the town of Vulcan, Alberta, here in Canada.

My daughter's middle name is Mackenzie. I got that name from the captain of the USS Excalibur in Peter David's Star Trek: New Frontier novels.

My son's name is Ian. Counselor Troi's father was named Ian Andrew Troi. (I have to admit, though, I made that connection after the fact....)

Not sure if this is the "real world", but on last week's episode of Warehouse 13, one character gave the Vulcan salute to another and introduced herself as 'the next generation' at the warehouse.

On an episode of Boy Meets World, when trapped on a malfunctioning subway, Eric called for help on the emergency box and started by saying :
" Subway to the bridge, is anyone there?"

Every time I hear someone say something along the lines of "you need to check off this", I think of Chekov...

there's a street in Vermont(?) that looked Loomis.

There's an alley in Auckland, NZ called Vulcan Lane. and on that Lane there's another shop/restaurant also named vulcan.

Of course. Uhura's earpiece.

The first time I saw Bluetooth, I thought, "Well, we've taken the next step towards the Borgification of our society...."

" Borgification" :-D

I've always thought that the taser was similar to the phaser - not just as a rhyming word, but the "stun" implications.

I'm set to eventually name all my future pets after Star Trek characters. A skunk named Neelix, a shepherd named Chakotay, a grey cat named Locutus... and I've always wanted a pair of love birds, but I can't decide between "Benjamin and Cassidy" and "Kira and Odo".

TNG crew names are reserved for my horses. Their stalls will be in order of descending rank and they will have pips on their halters.

Yeah, I'm Addicted to Star Trek, all right.
