Im doing an assignment on Seinfeld for uni where I need to research and discuss the topic in socirty to gain views.

My topic looks at whether 'Seinfeld represents and characterises contemporary American Society.' As a show about nothing do you think the characters and scenes depicted are relateable for American Society.

Any thoughts would be handy! Cheers!

It is probably too late but yes the fact that Jerry is a stand up comedian who basically complains about society talks about the ability to work without really working in the U.S. Kramer hasn't had a job in ages but he still has a very high standard of living. And the fact that we have so much free time in general to do nothing and be unproductive talks about how privileged the American Society is. We value not having to do anything. We have conquered nature and nowadays we have Mexicans and other immigrants who do all the hard work. Remember Abu the Indian, I think. He was very hard working because for immigrants that is what he needed to be in order to advance in American society. But for most Americans we can afford to be lazy and many of us are content with our privileged status because on World standards we are living very well.
