Gilmore Girls follows Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and her daughter Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) in there lives in the fictional Stars Hollow, Connecticut. The fast talking Gilmores are often mistaken for sisters, as they are so close in age and in their relationship. Lorelai's well to do parents, Emily Gilmore (Kelly Bishop) and Richard Gilmore (Edward Herrmann), give the girls advice on life and love, though are often misguided. Luke Danes (Scott Patterson), the owner of a local diner, is the love interest of Lorelai, while Rory has her eyes first on Dean Forrester (Jared Padalecki), then Jess Mariano (Milo Ventimiglia), but eventually chooses Logan Huntzberger (Matt Czuchry). Lorelai manages the Independence Inn, and is the boss of Michel Gerard (Yanic Truesdale). Rory is best friends with Lane Kim (Keiko Agena), while Lorelai is friends with Sookie St. James (Melissa McCarthy).
