That's the problem with those blind by faith; one second, River is being called an angel, and the next she is a witch. People need to learn that they don't need something larger than themselves; they just need each other. That is why crews like those in "Firefly" and all the Star Treks were successful. That is why Serenity has never fallen. Mal lost the Battle of Serenity Valley because his people abandoned him, but Serenity wins because the crew ends up sticking together (despite Jayne's indiscretions).
