Some pointers on writing and submitting trivia and why we may not approve it.

Hi everyone,

Just a few quick tips on submitting trivia for approval:

1. Please try to ensure your grammar and spelling is correct, if there are too many corrections to be made or the wording of your question is confusing then we will not approve it.

2. It is best to answer ALL current trivia questions prior to submitting your own trivia, this will make it a little easier to ensure you are not sending in a duplicate question. I know it is hard to remember all the trivia you have answered but we continuosly get trivia submitted about the girls birthdates, star signs, who their father/s are, who their husbands are etc and these questions will now rarely get approved as they have been asked so many times already.

3. When submitting a fill in the blanks of the spell question please ensure you get the wording of the spell 100% correct. Quite often these are submitted incorrectly and are always being reported for incorrect information.

4. Stay on topic, please try to refrain from submitting questions that are not Charmed related. For example questions like What TV show did Drew Fuller appear on before charmed has no relevance to the Charmed TV show.

5. When you submit a question it is always best in the explanation section to put what episode the question refers to (if the question does not already state the episode title) and possibly a brief fact that covers why the answer is correct. Backing up the answer with facts is almost a sure fire way to ensure people do not report your question for incorrect information.

6. BE CREATIVE. Go back, watch the episodes again, look closely and observe. By now all the major storyline questions have been asked so go back, LOOK and this time, get the nitty gritty stuff that people gloss over. You can be specific. Remember, the point of this quiz is to stump others in a fun way so try to find interesting tid bits of information to use rather than things like what colour shoes was she wearing etc.

Reasons why we may not approve your trivia:

1. When someone makes a simple grammatical or spelling error we try and fix it before we approve the trivia but if there is far too much editing to be done on a question and it looks like we have to essentially re write the whole thing we may delete the trivia.

2. Word your question correctly, if it is confusing or does not make sense it will not be approved.

3. If you ask an obscure question or a question that could possibly lead to debates over the answer we like you to fill in the explanation section so people can see why the answer is what it is. If your question is possibly confusing and there is not a decent explanation to back up your answer we may delete the trivia.

4. Duplicate questions that get asked over and over are not going to be approved. This does not guarantee that there won't be duplicates as there are so many questions being submitted we can't remember all of them but if we do recall recently approving a similar question the trivia will be deleted.

Please also remember, we are approving hundreds of trivia questions every week so there will occasionally be mistakes that slip through, please just report the question politely and explain why it is incorrect and we will sort it out.

Thanks :)

Another note I forgot to mention, please do not submit questions that are related to the box sets of the DVD's, this means color, what the girls are wearing, what pictures are on the discs, basically anything to do with the box sets.

The reason is because these details differ depending on which country they have been released in. They are not the same in every country and therefore we cannot continue to allow these questions now that we know this problem.

Thanks :)

I have a question about the trivia, whenever I write a question, mine are always approved, but whenever I answer the trivia questions I keep getting the same questions asked, and I wonder if I'm asking the same questions..

We try as hard as possible to ensure duplicates of the same questions are not approved. However we cannot always remember if similar questions have been asked as there have been over 7000 questions in total so far and it is impossible to remember them all so there will be times when you answer questions that have already appeared before.

Also, because we have 4 officers maintaining and updating this application we do not always know what questions have already been authorised by the other officers so we may approve a question thinking it is not duplicate but another officer may also have approved a similar question.

Hope that helps!

That is also an issue of the trivia submitter because its hard to remember what kinds of questions you have answered before. I once entered the question of who Chris was named for because I had never seen it before so I thought it would be new. But as if to slap me in the face as soon as I submitted it the next day I was given three of the question and felt a little embarrassed.

Haha, this also happened to me when I used to submit trivia, I pretty much did it in episode order and the first few days after I had submitted the questions I started having very similar questions about the same episodes come up in the trivia and they weren't the ones I had written! I always felt like there were 2 or 3 other people watching the same eps as me just 3 days earlier!

ONE MORE NOTE ON SUBMITTING TRIVIA

Please stop submitting questions that ask "What is the name of episode _ in season _ "

They have been asked so many times before we are no longer accepting them.

Thanks

Hi Gabby, yes as I mentioned above we are not accepting any questions in relation to the box sets at all due to the differences on them depending on what country they have been released in :)
