...can we have an Admin posting about this? Because I feel like after a few months, when this topic fades to the seventh page, someone else will be asking the same thing with the same postings by different people all explaining the same thing

I had said the same thing many years ago, that part never made sense especially since in the 6season she had been passed all summer long like for months

Maybe a new slayer was called but they were never in sunnydale so were never apart of the show. Because the only reason Faith came to sunnydale was because a big bad was about to arise or whatever so maybe the fourth slayer was called but she was just busy in some other hellmouthy area.

Stop it. Just stop it.

PEOPLE, HERE IS HOW THIS WENT DOWN:

1st season, Buffy drowned and died long enough for the slayer line to pass to Kendra.

However, when Xander performed mouth-to-mouth and revived Buffy, her power stayed because no matter what, she is a slayer. Note that the First Slayer still had a connection with Buffy even thought the First Slayer had been dead for hundreds or possibly thousands of years.

2nd season, Buffy is now no longer the conduit for the slayer line, but is still a valid slayer. The conduit for the slayer line was Kendra. For another slayer to be called, Kendra and only Kendra would have to die. Which is what happened.

3rd season, Faith is called to Sunnydale after about 6 months of being the active slayer. When she went bad in seasons 3&4, then turned herself in in season 1 of Angel, she was still and always the active slayer and the only active slayer.

For seasons after that, one-line dialogues would say that another slayer would be called when Buffy died. This is a writer who did not realize what s/he was writing and the line was never caught.

If, IF, another slayer was called after Buffy's death in season 5, there would have been a storyline about it or even a mentioning of it in season 7 since the history and future of the slayer line was the focused arc.

There is no successor to Buffy other than Faith. Repeat: There. Is. No. Successor. To Buffy. Other. Than. Faith.

But you a forgetting one major point...technically there is another slayers..several in fact. At the end of season 7 Buffy and Willow give the power to all the potentials so technically they all become slayers. As well in the comics which is technically season 8 all the potentials are still slayers. So although another Slayer is not called when Buffy dies, because they still have Faith...by the end of the show there are other slayers. Sorry just had to get my two cents in lol.

Lol, it's cool. I didn't mention it because it has nothing to do with the argument at hand. In the 7th season, the slayer line was dispelled to accept all potential slayers as actives. Before that, however, it took ONLY the OFFICIAL ACTIVE slayer to die for another one to be called.
