From the begining of the series there are 12 models. This is in timeline, as number 7 has been defunct due to sabotage by number 1. So the Cylons know this and refer to themselves as 12 models and this does include the "final 5" which they need to complete their mission ( not just destroying the humans ). (8-1)+5=12

Now that Caprica has come out we know who Daniel is, buuuuttt, and this is a big ole but, is Daniel cylon number 7, [possible spoiler] is Zoe number 7 and Daniel was protecting number 7 and somehow protected her by renaming her Daniel (or something like that anyway) confused?? I am slightly now.

I don't see how Caprica's Daniel or Zoe can be #7 as the final % made all 8 models. Maybe Daniel was made in the image of Daneil Graystone just like Hellen made Caval in the image of her father. It was her father right?

I think there is something up with Daniel Greystone. The name is the same, he creates cylons, the top of his lab building is a pentagon(The symbol of the cylon alliance). What it is I cant say, but Im thinking that Saul and Ellen names #7 daniel as an homage to another creator of life.

Ron Moore and the female writer (can't remember her name) for the show, were asked if Daniel would have significance in 'Caprica' and R.M. laughed and the female writer said, and I paraphrase, 'It's a strong possibility, you'll just have to watch.'

I think that would be an entirely genius move--for Daniel Graystone to be the 7th model Cylon. I mean after all, his daughter created the virtual Zoe-R to be uploaded into the first cylon, thus becoming, well the first cylon, and if her conciousness was the signal spread to all other cylons (in 'The Cylon's Secret' by Craig Shaw) then why can't her evolved concious as a product of the evolved cylon race recreating her father as the second Daniel Graystone be a possibility, when he in turn had done the same for his own daughter?

It's entirely too ironic if this were to be the case. However, I think that would be GENIUS! I mean, it was already so that the first cylon model had the concious of a human, in turn the view of the 'one true god' to have been created from a humanistic view when the cylon's adopted the idea. I can't wait for Caprica to come to television to replace my entirely too geeky hobby that was BSG.

About Kara, and/or Kara's father, being the original Daniel model I think would result in a simply dull plot--when the writers can further explore it in Caprica. Kara was special in her own rite, her father being shown the one time, was due to her own projection through her confusion. He was only thrown in to help her 'remember' that she, Hera, and the Final Five, all had the 'code' to the second Earth imbedded in their memory. Right?

Someone who is actually includign Caprica in the Daniel idea. I hadn't considered it until I read it on an online blog.

I share the Caprica concept revealing who the 7th modeal of Daniel is, but I don't think it would be Zoe being so when EVERYONE in the BSGverse knows she is/was the first orginal cylon prototype model. I posted something about my idea and how Caprica will involve the model of Daniel being Daniel Graystone.

He recreates his daughter and after extensive evolution of her conciousness, think of it as a tree branching out, the evolving of the cylon race, why couldn't it be possible for it to be encoded somewhere within the cylon conciousness to recreate Daniel Graystone with the help of the original five? Daniel Graystone is brilliant and creative with a philosophical point of view in artificial intelligence and mechanics. Perhaps when his conciousness is recreated, he explores his original creativity through painting? Seems plausible. That's my idea about who the seventh model is, and I'm sticking to it.
