Anyone know or understand the Daniel reference? Seems like a waste of a cyclon character that never seemed to have a purpose. Kara seemed to know something but I'm not sure it wasn't more disappointment that it wasn't her. Or...did I miss something?

I don't think we truly know the answer to this question. I think the guy playing the piano with Kara was Daniel, her father, and she was truly the first hybrid. I think this is the case, but I can't prove that, and I think it fits the characters and story, and doesn't leave Daniel hanging, like he otherwise is. (Hera is still who God/whatever chose to be the mother of us).

Fir Ron Moore, Daniel's murder par John Cavil was a way to give the latter a Cain figure, to make him more evil, more desperate. I do not think Kara was Daniel's father, just an instrument of God, even if "he does not like to be called like that" !

An interview with Ron Moore said it that fans fell down a rabbit hole on the Daniel model. It was created to cover up the mistake in the numbering of cylons.

Highest model number is 8, plus 5 (the final) = 13. So they needed to backfill a model... number 7.

During the podcasts Ron Moore mentioned that Daniel would have significance in Caprica... so hopefully that might be a tie in at some stage in the new series...

wow... if thats true then... ummm i think i might wanna hurt him... but then by giving us Daniel it completely drove out the idea that kara indeed might've been an actual angel... or at least it didn't enter into my mind...

Don't worry they tend to change things as they go along so it mightn't fit in to Caprica in the end :-) Mind you I know what you mean about wanting to hurt him - I've felt that a few times after a particularly unexpected twist but it's a kind of love/hate thing - I still think he's an 'bloody minded' genius who gave us a wonderful show!

I'm thinking that we might see more of Daniel in the movie this fall on the Cylon's side of things. We might not - it might go all the way back to Caprica, but I thought Caprica was going to be about the creation of the cylon race and if that is the case the final 5 will still be traveling to meet up with the 12 colonies after earth was destroyed. We wouldn't be able to see the 5 help create the 8 human models.

Just a thought.

I kinda like the 'Daniel' reference. 1st of all its because I happen to be a Daniel myself. :D

Okay back to my point. I think Daniel is Kara. Hear me out. If you look closely at the end of season 4. One minute u have Kara chatting away, in the next she is 'pooph' gone. So what freaking happen to her?! Next issue with Kara. On earth 1 (cyclon earth) we see Kara carcass in the cockpit of a fighter. How the frak are we to explain that? I guess one can deduce that Kara is special.

We know one of the 8 was super jealous of Daniel. So jealous that he totally destroyed Daniel. We also know that Daniel is not human. Daniel was supposed to be a dude and not a lass. I would simply sum Daniel to complete the Kara paradox. True Daniel could be resurected if he was left well alone. It could also mean that during the 'messing' of Daniel data and gene sequencing. Daniel became extra special. He return not as a dude but a lass. He could resurect outside the known form. He was well learned and was able to retain some of his potential even after resurection. He/she became angsy because he was mutilated afterall.
Therefore I can sum it all up that Daniel is Kara. Because this way Kara extra special ability will not look like a paradox.
