Claudia Joy – Played by Kim Delaney – Claudia Joy is married to recently promoted post commander Brigadier General Michael Holden with two daughters, Amanda, deceased, and Emmalin. They met while she was at Harvard Law School. She is strong, smart and sophisticated woman who faces new challenges because of her husband’s promotion. Claudia Joy is up for the task and in difficult situation she knows how to find solutions to dealing with military life.

Denise Sherwood – Played by Catherine Bell – Denise is married to Major Frank Sherwood with one son, Jeremy. Her father is from a long line of military men and hasn’t known much outside of Army life. Denise is an often shy and reserved woman but deals with her husband’s deployments and son Jeremy’s emotional difficulties. She becomes a nurse at the post hospital in Season 1.

Pamela Moran – Played by Brigid Brannagh – Pamela is married to Chase with a son, Lucas, and daughter, Katie. Pamela is a former Boston cop, who can handle a gun and no one intimidates her. She ditched the police career to focus on her family. Pamela will do anything for her family even being a paid surrogate when money was tight. She gets a job at post radio show which allows her to express herself and help other Army wives.

Roxy LeBlanc – Played by Sally Pressman – Alabama native Roxy is a sassy young mom of two young boys who marries PFC Trevor LeBlanc after four days of courtship. Roxy is still adapting to Army life and at the beginning of her life on post, she befriends a few fellow Army wives to help her along the way. Not being about to be a stay at home mom, Roxy gets a job at the local Jodie bar, called Hump Bar. After the bombing of Hump Bar, the owner of the Hump Bar makes Roxy half owner and she rebuilds it as Betty’s Bar and Grill.

Roland Burton – Played by Sterling K. Brown – Roland is a psychiatrist at the post in the beginning of the show. He is married to lieutenant colonel Joan and the only husband on the show who isn’t in the army. Having to deal with his wife being deployed a lot and then her suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder has caused him to cheat on her once. They deal with their marriage and Joan’s pregnancy throughout the show. Later in season 2, Emmalin starts talking to Roland about her problems and then brings some of her friends to talk to him too. This makes Roland decide to become a high school counselor.

Lt. Col. Joan Burton – Played by Wendy Davis – Joan is the first African American woman at Fort Marshall who became a lieutenant colonel. She commands over 400 men. She has deployed worldwide and had a difficult tour of duty in Afghanistan that caused her to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. She later finds out she is pregnant and has to learn to deal with it along with her job as lieutenant colonel.

Col. Michael Holden – Actor: Brian McNamara – Michael Holden is married to Claudia Joy for 17 years during Season 1. They have had two daughters during their marriage. He was pasted over for promotion of Post Commander at the beginning of the Series because of false allegations of racism. After the Post Commander retires because of health issues, Michael is promoted to Post Commander.

Maj. Frank Sherwood – Actor: Terry Serpico – A major and is also married to Denise. He can be really strict about some things and cares about his family’s image. He wanted Jeremy to go to West Point even though Jeremy wasn’t really interested in going. When he gets deployed later, he starts to notice that Denise has changed and he doesn’t like her riding a motorcycle. He gets worried and comes home early to try and fix his marriage.

Staff Sgt. Chase Moran – Actor: Jeremy Davidson – Chase is a member of the Army elite Delta Force operator who is married to Pamela Moran and dad to Lucas and Katie. He life is different because he gets deployed without notice and has to leave without saying goodbye to his wife and children. Nevertheless, he and Pamela always try to work together to make the best of their situation but there is some arguing along the way.

SPC. Trevor LeBlanc – Actor: Drew Fuller – Ranked Private First Class at the beginning of the show but gets promoted to Specialist later. He’s a good husband and father and also a good soldier. He couldn’t wait to be deployed for the first time in the beginning of the show while Roxy was really worried about it. He injures his foot which delays his deployment until the end of the first season. In season 2 he gets shot in the arm for stopping a guy in Iraq from hurting a lot of people. He ends up coming home early because of his injury and is seen as a hero by a lot of people but he doesn’t agree. His injured arm has prevented him from returning to combat until it recovers and is really disappointed about it.

Amanda Holden – Kim Allen – Michael and Claudia Joy’s oldest daughter, who does have a brief relationship with Jeremy Sherwood. She breaks up with him when she believes she is pregnant. After she learns she is not pregnant she is about to enter college when she is killed in the Hump Bar bombing.

Emmalin Holden – Actress: Caroline Pires (S1) and Katelyn Pipp (S2) – Michael and Claudia Joy’s youngest daughter, who is having to deal with her older sister’s death and being a high school student. She is trying to move on with her life without her sister.

Jeremy Sherwood – Actor: Richard Bryant –Denise and Frank’s son. Jeremy has an abusive past towards his mother. He briefly dates Amanda Holden. Jeremy enlists in the Army after turning down West Point.

Katie Moran – Actress: Chloe J. Taylor – Chase and Pamela’s daughter.

Lucas Moran – Actor: Jake Johnson – Chase and Pamela’s daughter.

Finn – Actor: John White, Jr. – Roxy’s youngest son who Trevor adopts.

TJ – Actor: Luke Bartelme – Roxy’s oldest son who Trevor adopts.

Sgt. Peter Belgrad – Actor: Jason Wiles –A soldier who was under Joan Burton’s commend in Afghanistan and who suffers from extensive PTSD upon his return from duty. Later, he holds Roland and Claudia Joy hostage in a messy showdown with negotiators.

Hannah White – Actress: Ann Cusack –An old friend of Claudia Joy's who returns to post to uncover the truth about her late husband's death in Afghanistan.

Victoria Grayson – Actress: Barbara Eden – General Hugh Grayson's wife, who sets up Claudia Joy's rival, Lenore, for a big fall.

General Ted Baker – Actor: Michael Harding –Post Commander during the beginning of Series, who’s failing health results in the promotion of Michael Holden as the new post commander.

Lenore Baker – Actress: Rhoda Griffis - Wife of General Ted Baker. She is often the culprit when it comes to drama around Fort Marshall in an effort to secure her primo status on post. She spread a lot of rumors about Claudia Joy during her time on the show.

Marda – Actress: Gigi Rice – Roxy's mother, who comes for an unannounced visit to post, revisiting her strained past with her daughter.

Marilyn Polarski – Actress: Katie Kneeland – The posts’ biggest gossip who leaves her husband and is killed in the bombing at the Hump Bar.

Sgt. George Polarski – Actor: Jason Wiles – Marilyn’s husband who bombs the Hump Bar after learning his wife is leaving him.

Betty – Actress: Patricia French – The owner of the Hump Bar. She seems mean at first but she has her good moments too. She gets injured pretty badly during the Hump Bar bombing and Roxy lets her stay at her house until she recovers. They become pretty good friends and Betty lets Roxy take over the new Hump Bar after she learns that she has cancer and decides to go to California for treatment.

Dr. Chris “Getti” Ferlinghetti – Actor: Seamus Dever – A doctor that works with Denise at the post hospital. They become pretty good friends and start to develop feelings for one another. He decides to quit working at the hospital after he kisses Denise and when she starts avoiding him. He gets into a motorcycle accident later which costs him his life.

Lt. Col. Evan Conner – Actor: Matthew Glave – Joan’s replacement while she is on maturity leave.
