When submitting Trivia questions, can you please make sure that you have correct information relating to ANGEL.

- No questions that are based on your own personal opinion.
- No questions that relate directly to Buffy.
- No completely random questions that don't make any sense.

When describing a scene, please do so clearly or include the episode title. This will make things a lot easier for us guys to approve and you guys to answer.

Also, re-read your trivia question to ensure that it makes sense. Incorrect information may mislead people into choosing the wrong answer.

And last but not least please check your spelling and grammar. Questions can be misleading if they aren't grammatically correct or have spelling mistakes.

Thank you :)

Could there also be some clarification given as to which of the various Angel-related comics are fair game for questions? As I understand it, only canonical Angel is allowed, so only After the Fall should show up in the trivia section (not, for example Spike: Asylum, etc.). If I'm wrong in this, then I apologize, but I think I'm right, and it gets mildly frustrating having inappropriate content show up on pretty much a daily basis.

Most of the Spike Comics are centered around Angel. For exampe, Spike: Shadow Puppets includes Lorne and is very clearly related to the Smile Time episode. Further Spike: Lost and Found takes place as a spike centered sequel of In The Dark. It also concludes with all of the Angel characters in their Season 5 roles at W&H. Spike v. Dracula Chapter 5 occurs while he is in L.A. but before he is recorporealized. Spike: Old Wounds includes Fred and all of the gang again at W&H in their Season 5 roles.
And the examples go on and on.
All related comics should be allowed as they are canon.

In addition, the Spike comics are published by IDW and Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt are credited with the creation of all of the Spike comics. Brian Lynch and Franco Urru ( writer and pencils for After the Fall) wrote and penciled Spike: Shadow Puppets.
There use to be a post that said all of the comics relating to Angel were acceptable. Would Matt have the same argument if there was an Angel comic that was not related to After the Fall? Or is it a given because it is about the title character?
The post also said all information on the DVD's including featurettes, etc were acceptable. These types of questions are acceptable on the Buffy and Firefly apps. Also, I wanted to note as Matt seems to be quite agitated regarding some of the questions: the Firefly app trivia has at least a couple dozen questions about which gun was used and in what episode etc.
The thing is a lot of Whedon fans do take in all of the information available about the shows, writers, directors, characters, actors, etc. To say that information on the DVD's relating to the actors personal lives is not relevant, is not how a lot of fans feel. I mean people loved the shows so much they started forums in abundance which lead to parties where people from many different states, provinces would get together to meet the actors, directors, writers, producers etc. We all know the Whedonverse fans are intensely loyal and interested in all things Whedon. As I said the fans absorb all information they can; including the DVD extras, the conferences, the comics ( which to note, in Spike:Shadow Puppets Brian Lynch makes many references to official cannon).
I am sure those that have enjoyed the Spike series of comics would recognize that it is cannon.

That's all well and good and a matter of opinion, but the very article you cite mentions how these (and almost all) comics are NOT considered canonical, which is why (as I understood) they aren't fair game. After the Fall IS official canon, because it is the official sixth season of Angel, which is why it is an exception. Again, if an officer or some such of this application wants to tell me I'm wrong about comics needing to be canon for them to be fair game for trivia, then so be it. Respectfully, though, you do not hold such a position. I am merely asking for a clarification of rules I think I recall seeing previously. If I'm wrong, then that's fine; I'd just like the rules to be expressly stated for all our benefit.

P.S. Contrary to your notion that fans absorb all they can, I for one purposefully avoid non-canonical comics. My favorite thing about Buffy/Angel is the massive, epic plot. Reading non-canonical comics throws a wrench into said plot, as events often conflict or don't quite make sense with other things. For the same reason, I avoid Angel novels and fanfiction, since they have as little (or less) relevance to the official plot as the non-canonical comics do. That doesn't make me any less a fan, and I don't think it's fair for you to unilaterally decide what ALL fans do. As proof of this, one or two people have already expressed their support of my opinions on the matter. Therefore, your assertions about what ALL fans do are clearly not accurate.

As an addition to this, I realize I'm coming off as a bit of a jerk here, and it really isn't my intent to insult or offend anyone... If all of the things you say about the trivia rules are true, then that's perfectly fine. I would just appreciate it if they were stated somewhere for all to see. If there used to be a post containing all of this, then I think it might be a good idea to bring it back. In all honesty, it's just hard for me to enjoy the trivia like I used to because of all of the incorrect questions, and the bad grammar, and the irrelevant information. If I'm wrong in this, so be it. All I'd like is clarification.

Your right. I was arguing a personal point of view and I realize now this is not the appropriate format for that.

I apologize.

Just a note of interest: The Spike series is really good and in my opinion fits very nicely with ATVS and After the Fall. And since it is written and contributed by the writers and pencils of After the Fall I believe a continuity issue is not at stake.
But it is my opinion.

Again, sorry.

I really appreciate you saying this, and I'd also like to apologize for blowing this whole thing out of proportion, or if I said anything that offended you or anyone else here.

Also, thanks for the info on the Spike series. I've always been modestly interested in them, but ever since I read some Angel-related novels a few years back that just didn't fit with the actual plot at all, I've been wary of anything like them... I think I might check out the Spike comics, though, since both you and that Wikipedia article agree that it fits into the plot nicely whether it's officially official (that's a mouthful) or not. Thanks very much!

I agree regarding the novels, and the Buffy novels as well.

So, we're good then?

I'd be interested to know what you think of the Spike series if you decide to read them.
