Is it such a big thing as they make it out to be on the show?I mean perosnally i dont think tis that big of a deal..you can have lots of personality and not have it oozing out of you at all times.Just because you arent always smiling and giggling and laughing doesnt mean you lack personality its just a different kind.I want someone whos gonna be a great model not someone whos gonna go buy jeans with me.

In the real world, no, it isn't a big deal. If you went into a casting looking as old as Joslyn, it doesn't matter how much you want it and how sickeningly bubbly your personality is. What it comes down to is 1) Are you tall enough? 2) are you thin enough? 3) do you have the right look.

I have two words for everyone: Naomi Campbell! She's seems to be a horrible person, and a supermodel. Tyra needs to get over her personality thing.

Elizabeth is exactly right.

Well, Naomi did have to work long and hard before she could throw cell phones at people. If you;re starting out, you can't pull that.
Still, I think the fashion world (Especially Europe and New York) would appreciate a calm, low-key demeanor rather than a bubbly personality. I know that The New York, and the New England/east coast is pretty mellow when it comes to how we act.

So, I've noticed this trend in ANTM and it drives me nuts. It just happened to Marjorie. The judges say, "Do this and that, act this way, and you'll do great." The model does, and the judges boot them for not being themselves, and/or taking it too far in the other direction. They did it to Brittney (C4), telling her to be more calm, and then she was and they said she lost her fire, they did it Toccara (C3), telling HER to be more calm, then saying SHE lost her fire, and they did it to Majorie on Wednesday, telling her to lose her nerves, and when she did, they said she was boring. What the hell?!?!

True, personality or lack thereof isn't as important to modeling as Tyra makes it out to be. But does personality mean a lot when it comes to being on a reailty tv show? You bet. Do you honestly think ANTM would have lasted eleven cycles if every contestant had the same bland looks and didn't really talk or interact with one another and the photo shoots were the typical high fashion ones where the model just stands there and does nothing? I highly doubt it. I don't think ANTM would have last past Cycle 2 if that had been the case. They tried showing Australia's Next Top Model (which tends to focus more on modeling than ANTM) on Vh1, but it was cancelled four or five episodes in due to low ratings. I think that says a lot about what the general viewing public here in America like. And I also think everyone should realize by now that ANTM is a reality tv show first and a modeling competition second. Once you're past that then the show can be a lot more fun.
