This week on All My Children was completely surreal. Seriously, it was like a Dali painting. The entire cast DANCED. And at one point they did a group number. It was like being at your cousin's wedding, except it was filled with people from Pine Valley. Anyway, here are our highlights.
Funniest Moment: AMC has not been giving us any belly laughs lately! Step it up, Pine Valley! That said, we did chuckle with poor Pete's desperate need to go to the bathroom during the dance marathon. As the rules stated, if you stop dancing, you're eliminated -- and his dance partner Colby was relying on him to help raise money for needy (but now more glamorous after being touched by Erica) orphans. So basically, he started doing a dance of a different kind (the "dang I've gotta go" one). Weirdly, it kept his feet moving, so it helped.
Best Moment: OK, this is a little out there, but we LOVED when Emma returned from visiting Annie -- arranged by Liza and Zach in hopes of getting info implicating Annie in Stuart's murder -- only to be "subtly" grilled by Liza about Stuart's death. Six-year-old Emma quickly retorted that if Liza made her talk about that, she'll tell Ryan that Liza and Zach let her visit Annie (a no-no). Touche!
WTH? Moment: Where to begin?! First, why on the Empress's green earth do Zach OR Ryan think they're going to get Annie to confess, let alone spill, anything about Stuart's murder. The woman may be bonkers, but she's not an idiot.
And why is Tad hosting this charity dance-a-thon? Granted, we adore Tad, but in the Pine Valley universe, he hasn't been a public figure since the mid '90s when he took over Erica's talk show. So basically it's like sticking a random has-been on TV. Don't you think Erica has enough clout to get more of a name to host?
Performer of the week: Alexander, Benjamin, and Caleb Eckstein as Spike Lavery! For a three-year-old, that kid kind of acts on cue. Well, he says his lines, which is asking a lot for a three-year-old.
In all seriousness, we're going to give another shout-out to Vincent Irizarry. David didn't have anything particularly amazing story-wise this week, but he's keeping Jake and Amanda apart (we love them) -- and he's being so smug and jerky that we can't help but want to sock him in the face. To act like such a complete and told scumbag takes talent, especially because Vincent Irizarry is nothing like that, so our hats are off.
Why We Love All My Children this week: Not only did we get to see Erica Kane, the Empress herself, do the funky chicken, but we got to see Adam and Zach do it as well. Words can't describe it.
What were your highlights (and lowlights?) this week?
